Dairy Global is proud to announce the upcoming webinar in co-operation with Novonesis. Join the expert-led webinar on 9 October 2024 at 15.00 (CET) as we take an exciting look at improving transition cow health through innovative biological solutions. Gain practical insights to enhance the health, productivity, and welfare of your herd. Don’t miss this opportunity to stay at the forefront of dairy management!

The webinar, entitled ‘Enhancing the health and performance of transition dairy cows with biological solutions’ will feature 3 experts who will dive into topics like silage and feed quality and also look at housed and grazing cows along with boosting production and health with the benefits of a probiotic, showcasing how it supports the transition period. For this and more, don’t miss out and register for free here!

Speakers

Dr Rafael Camargo do Amaral, global technical manager for silage at Novonesis
Topic: Enhancing dairy cow performance: The Impact of SiloSolve FC inoculated silage
SiloSolve FC inoculant improves aerobic stability in both ryegrass and corn silage, leading to better preservation. Incorporating SiloSolve FC inoculated silage improved aerobic stability in a prepartum and postpartum TMRs, helping to maintain consistent feed quality throughout the transition period. Feeding inoculated silage supports lactating cow performance without affecting dry matter intake. TMR with SiloSolve FC inoculated silage increases milk quality (3.5% fat-corrected milk, ECM, and milk fat yield).

Dr Bruno Ieda Cappellozza, global technical product manager for beef and dairy at Novonesis
Topic: Microbial solutions to support transition dairy cows
Good bacteria are live microorganisms that confer health benefits to the host, if and when offered in adequate amounts. Bacillus spp. are one of the species often used to support dairy cow health and productivity. Feeding a Bacillus-based probiotic supports performance of transition dairy cows, while also improving the quality of the colostrum that is fed to the calves.

Dr Ainhoa Valldecabres, researcher at Cardenal Herrera-CEU University
Topic: The housed and intensively grazed transition dairy cow
Despite being the focus of research for decades, the transition period remains a hurdle to dairy production. Comparable physiological, immunological and metabolic challenges are faced by housed and intensively grazed transition dairy cows. A smooth transition is paramount for optimised lactation performance.
