DSM-Firmenich says that its feed supplement Bovaer has reached a significant milestone in the reduction of enteric methane emissions from cows and has, to date, enabled farmers to save 50,000 tonnes of CO2e and counting. The additive suppresses enzymes that trigger methane production in the cow’s rumen, with just a quarter teaspoon of Bovaer per cow a day reducing methane emissions by 30% from dairy cows.
Olmix Group has acquired Yes Sinergy, a Brazilian biotech company specialising in natural additives for animal nutrition and welfare. The Group now generates revenues of more than €200 million, including nearly €150 million in animal nutrition, health and welfare.

Phileo by Lesaffre celebrated the opening of its new factory in Valladolid, Spain, with more than 100 customers and business partners from the agricultural industry. The new factory will focus on the production of Selsaf, Phileo’s nutritional solution enriched in organic selenium.
Amcor has built a new production line for high-performance shrink bags and films for meat and cheese at its Amcor Flexibles plant in Swansea, UK. The new shrink bags and films offer a more sustainable alternative to existing solutions, with a high barrier PVdC-free formulation, thinner material that maintains performance, and exceptional optical properties.
Eddy Ketels will step down as CEO of Orffa at the end of 2023, having worked for the company for 35 years and having held the position of CEO since 2001. He will be succeeded by Haiko Zuidhoff, who will start in his new role as of 1 October 2023. Zuidhoff has worked in Asia for 25 years, most recently as IMCD president for the Asia region. Prior to this, he served in various senior leadership roles at Trouw Nutrition Nutreco and Corbion.
During Holstein UK‘s AGM on 28 June, a fond farewell was paid to Holstein UK president John Jamieson of the Firth herd, who stood down at the end of his 24-month term. Holstein UK then welcomed Andrew Jones of Rossett Holsteins as the new president. As a member of numerous industry committees and councils, Jones has provided advice and support to make a positive difference to the Holstein breed and the wider industry. Meanwhile, Holstein UK is preparing to open its new headquarters in Telford, UK, following a refurbishment project.
Novus International welcomes Michaela Braun to its methionine team serving customers in North America. Braun joined the company as senior liquid systems and sales specialist. In this role, she is responsible for the Automated Inventory Management System (AIMS) located on the sites of customers using NOVUS’ liquid source of methionine, Alimet feed supplement. She also provides feed mill technical support for the company’s sales teams in the United States and Canada.
