At the 2023 World Dairy Expo held this week in Madison, Wisconsin, numerous cows were awarded at the international Jersey and Ayrshire Shows. Some of the winners are highlighted in this article.

Blissful day for Bailey at the International Jersey Show

The first and second place 6-year-old and older cows, owned by Vierra Dairy Farms of Hilmar, California, went on to win Senior and Reserve Senior Champion and Grand and Reserve Grand Champion. Stoney Point Joel Bailey claimed Grand Champion of the International Jersey Show. She is the recipient of the Allen Hetts Grand Champion Trophy and the US$1,000 Udder Comfort Grand Champion Award. Reserve Grand Champion honors went to River Valley Colton Juliette-ET.

Lucille leaps to Grand Champion of the International Junior Jersey Show

During the 2023 International Junior Jersey Show, the winning junior in the Lifetime Cheese Production Cow Class, Rolling Spring Premier Lucille-ET was awarded Grand Champion Female after claiming Senior Champion honors. Owned by Evan Jauquet of Pulaski, Wisconsin, Lucille will receive the Lillian & Keith King and Jim King Grand Champion of the Junior Show and the US$500 Udder Comfort Grand Champion Award.

Roz rocks the International Ayrshire Show

Heineman Reagan Roz, owned by Angela Fuller of Attica, N.Y., was named Grand Champion of the International Ayrshire Show after winning the 4-year-old class and Senior Champion. She is the recipient of the Allen Hetts Grand Champion Trophy and the US$1,000 Udder Comfort Grand Champion Award. The winning 6-year-old & older cow, Old-Bankston Jc Banner, owned by Glamourview-Iager & Walton of Walkersville, Maryland, followed as Reserve Senior Champion and Reserve Grand Champion.

It’s a win for Wishful Thinking at the International Junior Ayrshire Show

Toppglen Wishful Thinking-ET, the winning Lifetime Component Merit Cow, was named Senior and Grand Champion of the International Junior Ayrshire Show. She is owned by Tanner, Brennan, Marissa & Logan Topp of West Salem, Ohio. Wishful Thinking is the recipient of the Lillian & Keith King and Jim King Grand Champion of the Junior Show Award and the US$500 Udder Comfort Grand Champion Award. Reserve Senior and Reserve Grand Champion honors went to the winning junior of the 6-year-old & over cow class, Moy-Ayr Predator Lively, owned by Steve, Pauline, Rebecca, & Emily Schmidt of Delavan, Wisconsin.

Wishful Thinking also takes home Supreme Champion title 

Toppglen Wishful Thinking-ET was also awarded the Supreme Champion Cow of the Junior Show, and for this will rake home a 20-ft trailer on lease for a year, and US$1,500 presented by BouMatic. The Reserve Supreme Champion Cow of the Junior Show is Rolling Spring Premier Lucille-ET, the Grand Champion of the International Junior Jersey Show. Lucille is exhibited by Evan Jauquet of Pulaski, Wisconsin and will bring home US$1,000, presented by Udder Comfort Inc.

Shakira does it again as the 2023 Supreme Champion

A fan favourite, Erbacres Snapple Shakira-ET, rose to the top of World Dairy Expo’s Dairy Cattle Show and claimed the title of 2023 Supreme Champion. Shakira is owned by Jacobs, Antelimarck, Ty-D Holsteins, K Theraulaz, and Attaboy Holsteins of Cap-Sante, Quebec. Her winning streak began in 2021 when she was named Grand Champion of the International Holstein Show and Supreme Champion of World Dairy Expo. After winning the 6-year-old & older cow class, Shakira accomplished the same feat as she was named Grand Champion of the International Holstein Show before claiming her second World Dairy Expo Supreme Champion title. Reserve Supreme Champion was Stoney Point Joel Bailey, the Grand Champion of the International Jersey Show. Bailey is owned by Vierra Dairy Farms of Hilmar, California.
